Summer to do list...

Summer is coming my dearest and lovely teenagers- and if your like us your always looking for things to do, these are some of my and Fens favourite things to do- and things we're looking forward to doing!!

1. Find a good festival.
- If its your first time go to one more low key like Nozstock, Latitude, sheep music, or Shambala (me and Fens personal arty favourite)
- If its not your first time and your over 16 and looking for a wild time, why not try somewhere like Bestival, Leads, or Reading. These are especially good if your a big music fan.

2. Go camping with friends.
-This is always a great idea, even if its a total and utter miserable disaster, you'll always come out with good memories. As i recall last time i came out with bright orange hair, a sprained ankle, a cold, and covered in mud- but i walked away with so many funny and sweet memories, my first real kiss with my boyfirend, long walks, a beautiful sunset, a starry night, and so much more....

3. Go to the beach- and if your a bit of a wildchild try skinnydipping
- this is a great way to spend summer days and nights, and its even better when your with your close friends.
- If your in a good area why not try hiring a canoe or kiack  and go off on your own adventure
-If your with parents sneak out while they're not looking and go skinny dipping
(In England its a bit nippy and slightly dangerous as you dont know what the tide is doing, but in places such as France, its a great opportunity to take advantage of the heat and mellow sea)

4. Go stargazing- find the dates of a meteor shower.
- Summer nights always seem to present a flawless sky, and to add to it meteor showers are way more common then you think.
-Find somewhere high up and away from light pollution, if you have a telescope, EVEN BETTER

5. Hold your own party
-It doesn't have to be big, it could just be close friends, it doesn't even have to be at your house, you could take it to a field or down by the river (me and Fens personal favourite)

6,7,8,9,10.... We got you this far and gave you some ideas, you do the rest. Think about what you love doing and think about how and when you can do it. As teenagers its our jobs to be reckless and create scandals, it practically expected of us. So go out and live your life a little, I sure know we will....

If you have any really great ideas feel free to comment and we'll add to the list before summer.
Have a good en'

Spring To Do List

Ok... for the first time in a long time I was woken by sun on my face (If you live in Britain then you know how much of a miracle that is for this time of year) I lay there thinking ... is it over? Is it safe for me to step out of my front door with less than 5 layers, a wooly hat and 2 pairs of socks on?  My questions were answered by the faint sound of a lawn mower in the distance. YES! If the gardeners have come out of hibernation and so shall I !

I sprang out of bed to welcome the spring, and promptly tripped over a pile of stuff on my floor. As well as giving me a bruise, it also made me realise how much I had to do to prepare before I could feel well and truly... er... springy. Cup of tea in hand, I composed a check list.

1) De-messSpring Cleaning:
I'm one of those people who likes every thing in its place, nice and neat. But when you are busy hiding from winter its easy to fall back into my natural teenage habits, letting chaos unfold and piles of thick clothes engulf my whole room. Its time to fight of the dust bunnies with my trusted Henry vacuum cleaner and reclaim my space.

2) De-clutter :
Im talking everything you don't need, get rid of. Show no mercy. Clear out that very last bits of Christmas, forgotten decorations, scraps of wrapping paper etc. I'm part of the guilty party that likes to hold on to the really pretty or special cards for as long as I can. I'm afraid its unforgivable to see them after the end of march.

3) De- bobble :
Shove all winter clothes to the back of the wardrobe and bring forth less bulky, bobbly items. Not saying bikinis just yet, but defiantly the thin T-shits and cardies. You can layer them up into a stylish combo (maybe with a scarf) we're not under false illusion that its summer just yet.

4) De- depressing winter music :
This is (in my opinion) the most important one, so listen up! Nothing is more springy than feeling all fresh. Create a playlist with songs that make you all happy and want to dance. The true test for a song is if you can imagine walking down the road in slow motion, with sunglasses on, looking awesome, with the song in the back ground. True montage style. Trust me.... may seem silly but it works! At the moment I'm really loving the remixes of classic songs.

2 of the best recipes for teenagers...

THE HANGOVER MILKSHAKE

No joke, this is the best thing for hangover (or so we find).
Here it is,

  • Nesquick- around 3 or 4 teaspoons
  • whole milk, however much suits your glass
  • Vienetta icecream- melted in the microwave or over a hob
  • Squirty cream- go crazy
  • Either nesquick or chocolate sprinkles to dust the top and finish it all off
To accompany this, try a very salty full English, toast, or pancakes (which we will be showing below)

PANCAKES

Me and Fen share a stupid love for pancakes, the first solution to any problem is definitely pancakes.

  • 4 ounces of plain white flour
  • 2 median eggs
  • Milk ( add a little at a time until the mixture is fairly thick- so when you run a fork through it you can vaguely see the trail)
Get a non-stick frying pan and turn the hob to a median heat. When hot, put a small amount of butter into the pan and leave it to melt so it spreads to most areas of the pan. Once you've done this you can start to pour your pancake batter into the pan, spread it around until it covers most of the pan. Leave for around 1-2 minutes on each side (you'll know when it ready by shaking the pan slightly and if the pancake moves its done) Serve hot.

Good serving suggestions,

  • Chocolate spread
  • Chocolate spread and cream
  • lemon and sugar
  • butter and sugar
  • hot fudge sauce
  • mayple syrup, or golden syrup
  • cream cheese and smoked salmon
  • cream cheese and chorizo
Be inventive!! if you have any knew ideas or family classics, feel free to comment.

A little about life, and the people that occupy it...

Ok, so heres the thing, deep down, deep deep deep down.... everyone is a little bit of a dickhead. Even you.
The problem is finding those who are less of a dickhead then you, these people are a select few known as your friends. The "Best friend" is the one on the same level of dickheadness as yourself- keep this one close as they're the only person who will know you as well as yourself.

Don't put up with those who's dickhedness are off the scale, these people aren't worth bothering with and will usually put you down. The only problem is that you'll never actually escape this problem, they're everywhere. We like to refer to them as "air wasters" or "space wasters"

Sometimes you have to suck up to these people a little bit (get on their good side) this'll avoid future arguments and sometimes has it's privileges.

Or you could be completely be yourself and have a mini personal protest  (unfortunately me and Fen chose this route) WE LOVE IT

Collage Interviews

Ok my lovely’s! I know we are a new blog and its all-very exciting, but lets get to business. To make this a complete guide to the universe, we need to cover the boring stuff too. But fear not, nothing is boring on this blog! We can work through this together. That’s right… the dreaded collage interview. Now, we are in the same boat as you, Sweaty palms, blank minds and butterfly’s in the not so distant future. Some quick tips for you.

1)   BREATHE!! There is nothing worse than the pre- interview jitters. You will be surprised how well ten slow breaths do the trick. Get that oxygen to your brain, and steady your self. You will come across a lot better if you don’t throw up on their shoes (trust me it happens)

2)   I know the next one is very cliché, but its true. Be your self! Remember that you have qualities that people love about you. Draw them out and show them off. The interviewers want to see that you are a real person not a robot.

3)   Believe it or not, the interviewers don’t have hearts of stone and spend their spare time thinking of ways to trip you up. They want you to succeed! From the moment you walk in they are practically throwing you opportunities to prove your self. ONE WORD ANSWERS ARE NOT ACCEPTIBLE!! Don’t be afraid to go off on one, especially if you are passionate about something they have asked. If they ask "Do you (I dunno...) like to read?" You wouldn't reply with " yeah... sometimes, if I can be bothered." You say "Hell yeah! I love to read. Romance, thrillers, fantasy etc... my favourite authors are blah blah blah" you get the point.

Hope this helps settle some nerves. Good luck to everyone!
